To Bead or not to Bead

That's the title of Susan Brittingham's online beading class at Quilt University. First I made a sampler:

And here is my "masterpiese", lesson one done:

I really do like this swirl pattern called pathway. Here are some details.

Susan recommended to try beading on a quilted surface. I decided to bead one of my earliest quilts - a beginner piece, not well done and boring but important to me. I will try an allover tulip pattern in pink, pale pink, orange and green. I made a first test and it turned out better than I had expected. So here is the first tulip on my "Tulips" quilt. (When will this be finished?)

More Chicken Scratch

My second (and last) part of chicken scratch variations. Adding some beads was really fun.

Doodle Design

I have finished my second Doodle Design. It was a good idea to decide for a small size (photo size 9 x 13 cm) so that I am able to complete one piece per week.

Chicken Scratch

The first style of SharonB's Stitch Explorer 2009 is chicken scratch. What a challenge for me! Neither regular patterns nor cross stitch are my favorites. But I was obedient and tried it on a checkered ground:

The weaving was fun. So I tried that in a random way with some scattered cross stitches.

May be I will give it another try using some beads.

Doodle Class

So far I got with lesson two. It still needs some interest.

Silver Mandala

I have a lot of UFOs. This Silver Mandala is not the oldest one but the smallest which I thought I could complete before starting a new project or a new class.

The piece is not yet finished but this is what I did so far.

Water Element

Susan Sorrell's Fiber Collage class inspired this piece. It is the first part of a series of the four elements. Beading the edges was really fun for me.

Here are some details:
